OBITUARY: 

Oregon Pioneer Passes Away
John Henry Wilson, an Oregon pioneer, died at his home at 446 East State street, Salem, this morning about 8 o'clock. He has been ill for two years, with a complication of diseases.
Mr. Wilson was born in Tennessee on March 4th, nearly seventy-three years ago. He came to Oregon in 1851, and lived on a farm three miles east of Salem. He has lived in Salem for twenty-four years. He was married about forty-two years ago to Miss Melson of this city, who still survives him, together with two sons, Otto J., and Charles. He has also two sisters and one brother. One sister lives in Iowa and the other is Ms. Wm. Humphrey of Macleay. His brother is T. H. Wilson now residing in California. Mr. Wilson until the last two years was an attendant at the insane asylum, having worked there since the patients were brought to this city. He has been a member of the Presbyterian church for 25 years.
The funeral will be held at the residence Tuesday at 3 p.m., and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, the services to be conducted by Rev. Ketchum.
